True answers: True Life

A ministry of thousands of churches across North America working together as part of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Jesus said: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10b). In our heart of hearts, each of us is seeking, in one way or another, life abundantólife filled with meaning and purpose; life that is deeply satisfying. Some are seeking abundant life in family relationships, while others seek it in their work. Some are seeking it in and through material wealth and the pleasures it provides, and others are seeking it in and through power and prestige. The problem is, none of these alone can provide abundant life. As satisfying as they might be for a season, ultimately they leave one empty and searching. Only in a personal relationship with Jesus can one find that truly abundant life.
Godís Word teaches that a personal relationship with Jesus is possible if we will come to Him by faith. Ephesians 2:8 says: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. A personal relationship with Jesus is Godís gift to you and me. All we have to do is receive it. To receive Godís gift, we need to follow these basic steps:
  1. We must acknowledge our sin Ė Romans 3:23 says All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Sin is defined as anything that is inconsistent with Godís will and purpose for our lives. Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Because of our sin, we have earned (wages) death, but God desires us to experience life and offers us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we acknowledge our sin, we take the first step in receiving Godís gift of life.
  2. We must acknowledge Godís provision for our sin in Christ Jesus Ė In Romans 5:8, we read: For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. God did for us in Christ what we could not do for ourselvesóThe price for your sin and mine was paid by Jesus when He died on the Cross of Calvary and His resurrection on that first Easter enables us to experience life abundant and eternal in and through a personal relationship with Him. In Romans 10:9 we read: That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
  3. We must invite Jesus into our life to be Lord and Savior Ė In John 6:37 we read these words of Jesus: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. In John 1:12, we note: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
If you desire a personal relationship with Jesus, you can have that now, right where you are. All you need to do is to follow these basic steps and pray, asking God to give you His gift of life in and through Christ Jesus. If you desire to do that now, here is a sample prayer that you can pray: Dear God, I acknowledge my sin. I believe that Jesus died for my sin and that He rose again in victory over sin and death to enable me to experience life abundant and life eternal. I donít understand it all, but I believe it in faith. I truly desire to know Him. I invite Him into my life as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for Your precious gift, In His name, I pray. AMEN.
If you have prayed this prayer, Jesus is now present in your life. At the very earliest opportunity, share that good news with someone close to you, and find a church home where you can get involved in learning more about Jesus and about His will and purpose for your life. God bless you richly as you grow in Him.
